SOFIA is an industry initiative focused on promoting sustainability throughout the Optical Fiber and Cable value chain through increased collaboration. SOFIA has goals in four fields: 

1. Increase transparency on sustainability of the optical fiber and cable along the value chain.
2. Specify methodologies that allow a precise and comparable indication of the carbon content and other parameters
3. Define specific targets and roadmaps, including achieving climate neutrality and developing a more circular ecosystem
4. Be the source of reference for the industry, improving intelligence on raw materials' footprints and impact of manufacturing processes, and supporting communication within the industry
