The newly introduced Champion of Diversity Award is intended to recognise the unrelent efforts made by a company to address the diversity issue within the fibre industry
The Individual Award honours a single person for their unique efforts to make FTTH happen in Europe
The Operator Award acknowledges an operator company that has significantly contributed to the development and roll-out of FTTH in Europe
The Charles Kao Award honours an individual who has made an outstanding life-long achievement and contribution to promoting full fibre connectivity (globally, but particularly in Europe)
Winners will be announced during a dedicated ceremony on 19 April 2023, during the plenary session of the FTTH Conference 2023, taking place in Madrid, Spain.
The fibre industry relies upon the talents of the individuals that work within it. When competing for the best talent we must leverage all those in our community that can contribute, from all genders and all backgrounds and we must reflect the communities that we serve. Initiative of the FTTH Council Europe's Women in Fibre Committee, this award is given to a company that is demonstrating diversity in action with best practises and initiatives. The winner will be selected based upon their workforce diversity metrics, a demonstrated history of encouraging talent from all genders and backgrounds and a plan for the future in order to sustain momentum. All shortlisted finalists will be invited to present their diversity best practices at a dedicated session within the conference programme.
This award honours an individual for the special efforts made to enable FTTH in Europe. The nominee can be a manager who has made a clear decision to support FTTH roll-out; a technician for implementing a new technology solution for FTTH or a decision maker who has contributed to creating a favourable environment for FTTH.
This award is given to an operator company that has made a clear decision in favour of FTTH in Europe. The winner will be selected not only based on the size of the network and investment made but also on factors such as the economic, political and competitive environment for driving FTTH roll-out.
Created in honour of fibre pioneer Professor Sir Charles Kuen Kao ,who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2009 for "ground-breaking achievements concerning the transmission of light in fibres for optical communication, this award is presented to an individual who has made an outstanding life-long achievement and contribution to promoting full fibre connectivity.
