Mairead Meyer is Chief Operations Officer at National Broadband Ireland (NBI), the company delivering Ireland’s National Broadband Plan — one of Europe’s largest and most complex rural FTTH programmes. Mairead leads NBI’s design, deployment, in‑life operations, IT and network technology functions, with responsibility for delivering a future‑proof fibre network at national scale. With over 20 years’ experience in telecommunications, Mairead has held senior leadership roles across Ireland and the UK, spanning networks, IT and customer solutions. Prior to joining NBI, she was Managing Director of Openreach Northern Ireland, where she led the end‑to‑end business, established the Openreach business unit in Northern Ireland, and spearheaded commercial investment in fibre broadband across the region. Throughout her career, she has led teams of 1,000+ people across diverse geographies and technical disciplines. Mairead holds a First‑Class Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and is a passionate advocate for STEM engagement, apprenticeships, and increasing participation in engineering and technology careers.
