Mark Gerban

Mark Gerban is the Head of Product at Pairpoint, a joint venture between Vodafone and Sumitomo. In this role, he shapes product strategy and develops innovative digital solutions that leverage vehicle SIM cards to optimize tolling, fueling, fleet management, payments, and the overall automotive experience. With nearly 20 years of experience in automotive innovation, fintech, and digital transformation, Mark is a key driver of the future of mobility.  At Mercedes-Benz Research & Development in Sindelfingen (Stuttgart), Mark played a key role in launching digital monetization and payment solutions, contributing to nearly 50 patent filings. At Apple, he led the introduction of alternative payment methods for the App Store in Europe and developed new digital product strategies, highlighting his leadership in the payments sector.  Before his current role, Mark served as Chief Commercial Officer at a fintech startup, driving business growth. He also managed payment and risk operations for major online gaming and payment companies.  Beyond his professional achievements, Mark is an author and has presented his book at the University of Cambridge, where he spoke about identity and peacebuilding. He is also a board member of RG Hansa Hamburg and actively involved in rowing on the Alster. Originally from Philadelphia, he now resides in Hamburg. As a former elite athlete, he placed 16th at the World Rowing Championships, embodying excellence across multiple disciplines.
